Closing line value (CLV)
Closing line value measures whether you bet at a better price than the market's closing price — a strong long-run indicator of a real edge.
The closing line is the final price before an event starts, and is widely treated as the sharpest estimate of true probability. Consistently beating it (positive CLV) is evidence that a betting approach has a genuine edge.
Tracking CLV needs accurate prices through to the close, which a fresh, normalised feed supports.
