Handicap betting
Handicap betting gives one side a virtual start in goals, points or games, turning a lopsided match into a near-even market.
A handicap evens out a mismatch: the favourite must overcome a virtual deficit for the bet to win. Asian handicaps go further by removing the draw with fractional or split lines. These markets are central to basketball, rugby, US sports and sharp football trading.
The feed normalises handicap and Asian-handicap lines so the same line compares across books, which is what arbitrage and middles depend on.
