Odds API
An odds API delivers bookmaker and exchange prices as structured data your software can read, so you never collect them from each bookmaker yourself.
Your code sends a request and gets back a machine-readable answer: the events on offer, the markets on each, and what the bookmakers are paying on every selection. The answer comes in the same shape every time, so a redesign of a bookmaker's website stays the supplier's problem.
OddsRelay's API is a set of GET routes at api.oddsrelay.io. The key travels in an Authorization: Bearer header or an x-api-key header, and a key sent in the query string is refused. GET /v2/odds/standard returns one of the six matched feeds. GET /v2/odds/raw returns every bookmaker's prices per event, one page at a time, with meta.next_cursor pointing to the next page.
Each data reply has two parts, meta and data. On a matched feed, meta carries feed_type, region, odds_format and processed_at, the response's time. Every event in data has event_id, sport_key, commence_time and markets[]. Each outcome inside holds back[], the bookmakers' prices in best-price order, beside lay[], the exchanges' offers with the money available at each price.
Discovery is free. GET /v2/sports lists every competition with the market keys seen under it, and GET /v2/bookmakers lists every bookmaker and exchange key, each flagged with is_exchange. Code that reads these first asks only for keys that exist, which matters because an unknown sport, market, bookmaker or exchange is refused with a 400 naming the valid values.
Errors share one shape as well. Each is JSON carrying a code, a message and a request_id, so a client branches on code and quotes request_id when something needs chasing. Every data reply also carries an ETag. Send it back as If-None-Match and an unchanged body answers 304 with no body, at no token cost.
An odds API and an odds feed are one product seen from two sides. The API is the way in, and the feed is the data behind it, here 140+ bookmakers, 60+ of them live in the UK & Ireland, with exchange lay prices from Betfair, Smarkets, Matchbook and BETDAQ.
