Odds formats (decimal, fractional, American)

Odds come in decimal (2.50), fractional (6/4) and American (+150) formats, all expressing the same probability, with decimal the cleanest for computation.

Decimal odds give the total return per unit staked; fractional odds (UK racing tradition) give profit relative to stake; American odds express the stake or return needed for 100 units. They are interchangeable representations of the same implied probability.

A data product normalises to one format, usually decimal, so prices from books quoting different formats compare cleanly. The feed presents odds consistently rather than leaving the conversion to the consumer.

OddsRelay delivers this as part of one already-matched feed. See live coverage on the coverage dashboard.
