Odds formats (decimal, fractional, American)

Odds come in decimal (2.50), fractional (6/4) and American (+150) formats — all expressing the same probability, with decimal the cleanest for computation.

Decimal odds give the total return per unit staked; fractional odds (UK racing tradition) give profit relative to stake; American odds express the stake or return needed for 100 units. They are interchangeable representations of the same implied probability.

A data product normalises to one format — usually decimal — so prices from books quoting different formats compare cleanly. The feed presents odds consistently rather than leaving the conversion to the consumer.

OddsRelay delivers this as part of one already-matched feed. See live coverage on the coverage dashboard.
