How it works
Some race offers refund your stake as a bonus if your horse finishes second or third. Back the horse at the bookmaker and lay it in both the exchange win and place markets. Enter the odds, the commissions, the maximum refund and the share you expect to keep. The calculator gives both lay stakes and one Profit figure.
Worked through
A £10 bet at 6.0 on an offer that refunds up to £10 as a bonus if the horse places, kept at 80%. Win lay 6.4, place lay 2.2, with 2% commission on each.

With the refund counted as £8.00, the liabilities are £44.01 on the win lay and £4.40 on the place lay, and all three finishes come to £1.58. That figure rests on the retention entered.
Questions
Why lay the place market as well as the win?
The refund triggers when the horse places, so laying the exchange place market covers that outcome, while the win-market lay covers an outright win. Both are sized together.
What does the Profit figure show?
The lowest of the three results (the horse wins, places into the refund, or loses), with the refund counted at your retention.
