Design — font, colours, radius
Inherit the font of the page it sits on.
Default keeps the widget's own corners.
Accent, surface, text and radius are the only overridable tokens: a bounded set that keeps every widget readable. Fonts are stacks, so an embed never downloads one.
Embed code
This rewrites itself as you change the controls above: font, colours and radius. It is exactly what renders the preview.
<div data-or-widget="race-refund"
data-or-theme="midnight"
data-or-font="host"></div>
<script src="https://oddsrelay.io/widgets/v1/oddsrelay-widgets.js" crossorigin="anonymous" async></script>Paste it once, anywhere. The script auto-mounts every data-or-widget element and is style-isolated in a Shadow DOM, so it never clashes with your CSS.
Installing on WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix or React?
- WordPress
- Add a Custom HTML block (or switch the classic editor to the Text tab) and paste the snippet.
- Webflow
- Drop in an Embed element, paste the snippet, and publish. The widget renders on the published site.
- Squarespace
- Insert a Code block where you want the widget and paste the snippet as HTML.
- Wix
- Add an Embed HTML element (iFrame-free custom code) and paste the snippet.
- Shopify
- Paste into a Custom Liquid section (or theme.liquid for every page). A section keeps the widget on the one template you want it on.
- React / Next.js
- Render the div, then load the script once (e.g. next/script or an effect). The bundle auto-mounts new [data-or-widget] elements; call window.OddsRelay.scan() after client-side navigations if needed.
Some race offers refund your stake as a bonus if your horse finishes second or third. Back the horse at the bookmaker and lay it on both the exchange win and place markets, sized so the small qualifying loss is fixed and the refund's cash value is captured when it triggers. Enter the refund's max value and the share you expect to convert, and the calculator returns both lay stakes and the profit.
What it does
- Separate lay stakes for the exchange win and place markets
- Refund value from the max refund and your retention estimate
- Profit taken as the worst of the three outcomes: win, refunded place, or loss
- One tap to copy each lay stake
- Runs entirely in your browser
How to use it
- 1Enter the back bet. Type the back stake and back odds for the horse.
- 2Add the exchange lays and refund. Enter the win and place lay odds and commissions, then the max refund and retention %.
- 3Read the lays. See both lay stakes and the locked-in profit, with one tap to copy each stake.
What powers this
This calculator runs entirely in your browser. There's no account, no API key and no feed, and nothing you type leaves the page. The maths is the same commodity matched-betting and value arithmetic used across the industry, implemented carefully and unit-tested.
Questions
- What kind of offer is this for?
- Race-specific refunds that pay your stake back as a bonus if your horse finishes in a set position, such as second or third. They are common on big race days.
- Why lay the place market as well as the win?
- The refund triggers when the horse places, so laying the exchange place market covers that outcome, while the win-market lay covers an outright win. Both are sized together.
- What does the profit figure represent?
- It is the minimum profit across the three outcomes — the horse wins, it places into the refund, or it loses — so it is what you lock in whatever happens, given your retention estimate.
