How it works
A patent is a trixie with the three singles added: seven bets on three selections. One winner pays its single. Two winners add their double, and three add every double and the treble. Each way puts a place part on all seven, making 14 bets at the stake you set.
What's in a patent
The stake you enter is for each bet. Each way, every bet has a win part and a place part. For any other bet, from a single to a Goliath, use the bet calculator.

The two winners' singles and the double they share make up the £10.81. The treble needs the loser too, so it pays nothing.
Questions
Patent or trixie?
A trixie is the same three selections without the singles, so it needs two winners for any return. The patent takes three more stakes and pays from one winner.
How are each-way terms set?
Each selection takes its own terms, a quarter or a fifth of the odds being the most common. The place part of every bet is paid at the terms of the selections in it.
How does the calculator round?
It works every bet out in full, then rounds each figure down to the penny, the way bookmakers settle. A bookmaker that rounds each bet down on its own can pay a penny or two less.
