How it works

A UK round robin is three selections in 10 bets. Four of them are combinations, three doubles and a treble. The other six are up-and-down singles, a pair for each two selections. In an up-and-down bet, a winning first selection puts a stake equal to the original on the second, and the rest of its return is kept.

What's in a round robin

The stake you enter is for each bet. Each way, every bet has a win part and a place part. For any other bet, from a single to a Goliath, use the bet calculator.

Worked through

A £1 round robin at 2/1, 3/1 and 5/2: 10 bets, £10.00 in all. The 2/1 and the 3/1 won and the 5/2 lost.

Only the double of the two winners pays, £12.00. The up-and-down singles return £17.00: each winner keeps its winnings and passes the stake on, and the pairs that run into the loser stop there.

Questions

  • How does an up-and-down bet settle?

Each pair is two bets, A then B and B then A. If the first selection wins, a stake equal to yours goes on the second as a single and you keep the rest. If the first loses, that bet ends. If it returns less than the stake, the whole return goes on. Each way, the win and place parts settle separately.

  • Is this the American round robin?

No. In the US a round robin is a set of parlays of a chosen size. This calculator settles the UK bet: three doubles, a treble and three up-and-down pairs.

  • What if one selection is a non-runner?

Set it to Non-runner. Its doubles settle as singles and the treble as a double. An up-and-down bet that starts with it passes the stake straight to the other selection.
