How it works
A Yankee covers four selections in 11 bets, every one of them a multiple: six doubles, four trebles and a fourfold. With no singles, it needs two winners for any return. Each way makes 22 bets. Enter each price and result, and the table shows which groups of bets paid.
What's in a Yankee
The stake you enter is for each bet. Each way, every bet has a win part and a place part. For any other bet, from a single to a Goliath, use the bet calculator.
| Bets | Win only | Each way |
|---|---|---|
| Doubles | 6 | 12 |
| Trebles | 4 | 8 |
| Fourfolds | 1 | 2 |
| All bets | 11 | 22 |
Worked through
A £1 Yankee at 2/1, 11/4, 7/2 and 5/4: 11 bets, £11.00 in all. The 2/1, the 11/4 and the 5/4 won and the 7/2 lost.
| Bets | Count | Return |
|---|---|---|
| Doubles | 6 | £26.43 |
| Trebles | 4 | £25.31 |
| Fourfolds | 1 | £0.00 |
| It shows | Value |
|---|---|
| Total stake | £11.00 |
| Total return | £51.75 |
| Net return | £40.75 |
Three winners pay their three doubles and the one treble they make. Any bet with the losing selection in it, the fourfold included, returns nothing. The £11.00 stake comes back as £51.75.
Questions
Why does a Yankee with one winner return nothing?
Every bet in it is a double or bigger, so a lone winner has no bet of its own. The Lucky 15 adds the four singles for that reason.
How do each-way Yankee place parts pay?
Each of the 11 bets gets a place part at the same stake, paid at the place terms of its selections. A selection that wins also pays its place part.
Can a Rule 4 deduction apply to one selection?
Yes. Each selection has its own Rule 4 field, in pence in the pound. The deduction comes off that selection's winnings in every bet it is in.
